A Lucky Escape

Thanks to Margaret Myles for sharing these very interesting photos with us.

In the 1950s, her grandfather, Jim Brydon, lived in North Middleton, in 12/14 Borthwick Castle Road (see right).

He worked for Midlothian Council as the driver of a number of handsome looking trucks.

One day however, he very nearly came to grief (see bottom photo), when his truck ended up perched precariously on the wall of the bridge at the bottom of Cleuch Road on the A7 at North Middleton.
