The land around North Middleton and Borthwick is steeped in history. Ancient Borthwick Castle has seen the comings and goings of armies and royalty, while Middleton Inn has played host to drovers and other common folk since the 17th century. There are many tales to tell, both recent and old, and it would be fantastic if the amateur historians of the area could come forward with such tales to enrich this website.
We plan to kick things off with a potted history of the village hall itself, but we will also be trying to find out more of the local history from those who have been in the area longest, to inform those of us who have only been here for a short time. If you can help in any way, please do get in touch.
